CFD Analysis of a Patient Specific Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Model using CT Scan Images

To investigate to the understanding of the hemodynamic characteristics in abdominal aortic aneurysm, computational fluid dynamic simulation of physiological flows through aneurysm model was performed. The results suggest that pressure and WSS distributions on the surface of aneurysm were unevenly distributed during the diastolic phase. It was also found that the secondary flow is formed with decreasing the flow rate. The patient-specific abdominal aortic aneurysm geometry was created from DICOM files using commercial software, Mimics. The results presented in this study provide the understanding of flow phenomena in the AAA and the possibility of AAA rupture prediction.
